SLS Model United Nations Wins Big

Abby Abbott, Assistant Head of Upper School & MUN Advisor
Eight members of St. Luke’s Model United Nations team traveled to Long Island in May to compete and came home with hardware, so to speak — in this case, gavels! Though some of us may have been a little tired and blurry-eyed with prom the night before, our team dazzled in various committees about historical crises, including Chernobyl; Hoover, FBI, and the 1920s Mob Crisis; and the Berlin Wall. The SLS team flexed their sillier side in fictionalized committees as well, such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians, “Suits” (TV series), and Battle of the Universe: Disney vs. Pixar.

Reese Kubick '25 and Juana Marque '26, with their stellar portrayals of Disney’s Cinderella and Mike Ross in “Suits,” respectively, brought home the highest honors possible: Best Delegate. Denis Gannon '26 and Tylie Kubick ‘'26, for their impressive portrayals of Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s “Cars” and Trevor Smith in “Suits,” earned the second-highest recognition as Outstanding Delegates. Elissa Tobin '26, Iris Weizer '26, Eliza Raben '27, and Wyatt Patrick '26 also made significant contributions. In June, the MUN members will have the opportunity to visit the real United Nations in New York City!
